Also, I never said what I use experts for. Often it's to help with jargon and/or find studies. I think this argument ignores the depth of knowledge that makes up "expertise"

Which argument? That expertise is problematic? There's a large body of literature in science studies that says otherwise. But then you probably don't know much about that body of literature (& I kinda know some) so that makes me The Expert here
