It's particularly unscientific given that yoghurt/probiotics have definitely been studied in clinical trials and RCTs and mostly don't work very well

Certainly in Britain, GPs can and do suggest all sorts of quackery, eg it’s taken years of campaigning to end NHS funding of homeopathy. I once had a GP suggest tumeric
