So potatoes are as good as those carb gels for athletic performance but who the hell is going to stop a workout for a potato break?https://news.illinois.edu/view/6367/803645 …

I love this study, because not only was it funded by Big Potato, it compared ~130g of potato puree (an entire potato) to a small 23g carb gel packagehttps://twitter.com/GidMK/status/1186408588735942656?s=20 …

Sure, but even so I'm not sure it's reasonable to compare eating 3-4 potatoes with a few carb gels

Dunno, I reckon I'd get a bit nauseous eating 3 or 4 potatoes during an hour's cycle (which is similar to what happened in the trial)

Potentially, but honestly I think it's a bit impractical. The test was a 2-hour cycle with either carb gels or potato every 15 minutes - in total, the cyclists ate either 1040 grams of potato or 184 grams of gel

Could be a good addition to a training regime I guess - add the weight of your potatoes and you'll train harder!
