My favorite thing about the SPE is that it was debunked ~almost immediately~ and yet still hailed as a massive breakthrough and still considered an important work todayhttps://twitter.com/juliagalef/status/1184270907964944384 …
You can add location information to your Tweets, such as your city or precise location, from the web and via third-party applications. You always have the option to delete your Tweet location history. Learn more
More recently, accusations that the SPE was almost fraudulent have emerged, calling into question everything from the priming of the subjects to the analysis of data https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/unique-everybody-else/201909/twilight-the-stanford-prison-experiment …pic.twitter.com/4JaBKoZjfP
And yet the study is STILL TAUGHT AS FACTUAL IN PSYCHOLOGY CLASSES TODAY (never mind popular media) How do I know? It was part of my psych undergrad curriculum
(To be fair, "today" might be something of a misnomer, this was back in 2008 so some things might've changed in the intervening decade)
