Also, I reckon it's questionable whether the results comparing 8 autistic brains to 8 non-autistic ones means anything at all, really. Going to be a LOT of work before this hypothesis moves forward

I mean...it’s been known for years that neurodegeneration in autism is mediated by inflammatory processes because that’s what does neurodegeneration? Doesn’t tell you anything about the cause of the inflammatory process though.

Stroke => inflammation. TBI => inflammation. Schizophrenia => inflammation. Dementia => inflammation. All very different disorders with very different causes and very different treatments.
