I mean, not sure I agree that the business model isn't working when they made more than $50 billion from a single curative agent!

Looks like they were able to jack up the price to create profit but overall the market is better suited for chronic dz. Another huge example is antibiotics for which tx is for cure and failure is death. The market isn't aligned for co's to put R&D into this sort of drug.

Antibiotics is a much more complex issue though - poor stewardship practices and diminishing returns on ever-more resistant strains means that developing new drugs is incredibly hard but they are often useless within a decade
