This sort of unapologetic nonsense really exposes the hilarious absurdity of libertarianism in Australia The only way this argument makes even the slightest bit of sense is if you arbitrarily decide that all government regulation is worthlesshttps://twitter.com/TheIPA/status/1177066960661729283 …

Spoken like an academic who doesn’t need to deal with these regulations.

I'm not an academic and I deal with regulations all the time

Then why the lack of sympathy for small biz owners who deal with this? It’s crippling. The video is specific about agencies adding 70K-plus regulations with very little public knowledge. I appreciate this org exposing how hard it is to do biz.

The video is total nonsense. Many of those pages are attempts by agencies to assist businesses to understand the intricacies of regulations. And the assumption that these regulations serve no purpose is a laughable fiction

If we got rid of the things mentioned in the video above, regulatory agencies would stop sending out "guidance and notices", which would be a DISASTER for small businesses who struggle enough to understand regulations as is

Sure. I’m not entirely anti reg but guidance is nice way of telling people how to do their jobs and the idea that biz owners don’t struggle with regs is silly. There’s a reason large corps thrive in a highly regulated econ. Small biz simply don’t have staff to sift thru guidance.

What is your proposed solution? Get rid of guidance and let small biz sort through regulations without any information from the agencies enforcing those regulations? Without even email reminders or notices posted about the regulation?

I run a small business myself. I would be ~lost~ without regular emails from regulatory agencies about my obligations under the law
