I'm as much a fan of cannabis as the next guy, but even if it should be legalized recreationally it's not a miracle cure so stop telling people it will cure their cancer

I think that's one of my big gripes - there are certain products that are synthesized or derived from cannabis that are effective for specific things, but people lump it all in together as "medical marijuana" and pretend it's the same

Yeh it's a weird balance - there's good evidence for some things, but it's countered by the flood of optimistic nonsense about everything else. And then you get all the people who argue that since it's 'natural' there aren't any side-effects despite the RCTs showing there are

But the systematic review I cited found that 4 in 100 people using marijuana products would experience a 30% reduction in pain - might not be everyone, but for those people the QoL improvement would be indescribable

What is a “30% reduction in pain”? For that to make sense, pain would have to be a ratio level of measurement, but as far as I know it’s ordinal at best.
