On the one hand we have people concerned about government transparency and the threats to democracy. But, typically, those same people are bashing the very thing which enables an open government and strong democracy: data.

The article starts with: First it was the Bureau of Statistics. Right under the heading of doctored data. The article ends stating the need for accurate and reliable *data*. Average person would have seed of doubt affirmed, not redressed.
