A question I've been pondering - can we link *any* behaviours directly to genetics? Not that behaviour isn't genetically influenced, but can the underlying mechanisms ever be fully captured by measuring the behaviours themselves?

Excellent - I make this point a lot. I am eager to hear some... i was interested in the genetics related to D1/D2 receptor density & Big 5 data (E/I?) but that would relate to a huge multi-behavioral system not a single behavior.

As an existentialist that ended up focusing on gender philosophy and sociology after I transitioned, I am so happy to know doctors asks themselves this too.

It’s why I’m fascinated with serial killers. Nature or nurture or both? Is a conscience genetic? Etc etc.

I think genetics could cause a cognitive disorder that gets steered in a bad direction by life and influences. Uneducated guess

There will be some which will be specific and some shared ones. For food consumption there are at least a few: ALDH2 and alcohol consumption and CYP1A2 and caffeine also. Other may have more complex explainations, but that is the case also for non behavioral phenotypes

I'd also say no. I'm assuming that if something is definitely involuntary like a tic we don't call it a behaviour. But as soon as an action (action-like event?) is even partly or possibly voluntary, there are too many other factors that can't be eliminated.
