To be fair on the genetic tests, some of this is pretty absurd anyway How in the world do you even quantify "beard thickness"???pic.twitter.com/00bPRjlSCR
brb walking right past my bathroom scale to spit in a tube and find out my BMI
And earlobe size, best way to find that one out too apparently
How else will I find out how big my earlobes are????pic.twitter.com/eptbQ0cazZ
Most of the companies that do health genetics want to tell you up front several things that are easy for them to test and obvious if you have lived in your body. I think it's like 1% for buy in ("omg they're right") and 99% because that's all they have that's accurate
I think another interesting point is that there's also not much evidence for the 'personalization' that's really the product. Who cares about the tests if the end result is useless anyway?
Exactly, they give the same advice you'd get anyway. You need to eat more vegetables! And YOU need to eat more vegetables!pic.twitter.com/fyBjxoLlYT
My fave is the new trend to tell people to get more flavanoids in their diets...by eating more vegetables Apparently, if you leave the word flavanoids out the advice is less good
