(Sorry, should specify that Australia has never had a case of endemic transmission - there are occasionally people who catch Lyme overseas and then present to Aussie hospitals)

Most journalists seem to buy this kind of "chronic Lyme" story uncritically. There was an article in my local paper a while back, same idea, read like a fundraising pitch for these snake oil clinics that prey on these challenging to treat patients. *sigh*.
