Oof. Another funding rejection. Anyone know of a good analysis of loss-chasing by scientists seeking funding? How do you know when to decide not to waste the effort anymore?

That was very back-of-the-envelope. I'm worried about what happens when grant systems become over-subscribed, because the linear change in rejection rate (i.e. 10% to 8%) implies a massive extra amount of applications as the number gets lower.
