Well let's do a little math... Over a 20 year period Australian Universities would have published 1M articles... 250 retractions is 0.025%. Your story casts doubt on the overwhelming hard and honest work of scientists. Is it 'news' or is it to get 'clicks' and outrage?

Ok. Fair call. Let's say it's more, 500? Still a tiny amount of fraud/errors compared to other fields of human endeavor (finance/government/sport...) The scientific method is robust and peer review, while not being perfect is still an excellent error checking mechanism.

What if it's 90% of the papers published by the authors who've had retractions? What if it's 90% of papers from the labs that they work at? Neither of these are unheard of
