I heard today that not breastfeeding can cause distortions in the baby's mouth and jaw. This sounds like nonsense to me but the amount I know about breastfeeding can adequately be summed up by the phrase "bugger all" Twitter, what's your verdict?
Yeh it's a weird concept, hence my initial skepticism. Even now it seems weird - we use our mouths a lot more for non-food related things so why would this one be the biggest influence?

Because it happens in the first months; newborns are still developing bone structure- think of the soft spot on top of the skull. Breastfeeding helps develop the bone structure of the mouth properly in that unique window of time
