The phrase "type 3 diabetes" has got to be one of the dumbest in medicine. Type 1 diabetes- lack of insulin Type 2 diabetes- insulin resistance Type 3 diabetes- ? A complication of insulin resistance isn't suddenly a new form of diabetes. That does not make any sense.

Also diabetes is a Greek word meaning something like "flow through" (my Greek is not good). For type 1 and type 2 diabetes, it's diabetes mellitus. Sweet flow through, referring to the urine. Where is the sweet urine in Alzheimer's? Just thinking about this is making me dumber.

I once saw an entire page devoted to the idea that type 3 diabetes was when you had type 1 and type 2 which I found eminently frustrating as well

I have been under the impression no one thinks it is actually diabetes but a hypothesis that the brain is not properly able to obtain energy due to a metabolism malfunction.
