For the 1,000th time - you can have a difference of opinion over things that are arguable - politics, religion, which sauce is the best (sriracha) You can't have a difference of opinion over scientific fact You're just wrong

What you can have is a difference of opinion over the strength/quality of the evidence, but that's very different to saying "[x] is just a difference of opinion"

For example, screening for breast cancer is hotly debated It may in fact be a bad idea for younger women That doesn't mean that you can say "my opinion is that breast screening is bad"

If you say that the earth is flat, that climate change is a myth, or that vaccines cause autism, you aren't just expressing a valid but different opinion You're factually incorrect and people are right to point that out

Facts aint facts these days. That fascinating poser aside its deciding courses when action needs to be taken but no one knows the outcome. Lots of unknowns out there. #Risks

Depends on the issue I'd say. But that's the problem with science 🤷‍♂️

(1/3) I get where this is coming from, but can we please limit the claim to say that the anti-science crowd's arguments don't support their conclusions, that their epistemic standards are inadequate to participate in conversation, and that they aren't motivated by truth seeking?

(2/3) Of course you can have difference of opinion about scientific facts. You may be right or wrong. The map is not the territory. Some maps are better than others, and the maps you are talking about are uniquely bad (and often do not make a good faith effort to be correct).

Yeah I hate the way some of these anti sciencers want you to debate them as if they have a legitimate leg to stand on. "Ooooo you won't discuss it with me, I guess that means you admit I'm right". Smh

Facts are like rocks. You can argue withe them all you want, but they're not going to move. Opinions are like assholes. Most of them stink.
