Me: I want to enter hours, minutes and seconds with precision. Excel: For that you need to use the colon. Are you handy with the shift key?

Funnily enough, Excel still stores them as dates. It just gives you the number of hours, minutes, and seconds from 1900 unless you manually change the format of the cells. Even then, it's a headache to manually enter in minutes and seconds without entering in 0 hours first
