As I noted yesterday, one big thing is that the death toll from Chernobyl has been wildly exaggerated in almost every forum - in reality, it's likely in the hundreds, rather than the tens of thousands

This may change in the future - the WHO estimates that the eventual death toll may climb to 5,000 altogether - but even 30 years after the accident it's unlikely that the death toll is higher than a few hundred people
