2. There is no good evidence that cutting taxes improves the economy

Broadly speaking the statements hold true for most places. There is some evidence that cutting taxes improves GDP, but usually this has a long delay and is rarely much of an effect. Conversely, cutting taxes necessitates immediate cuts to spending, so it's a foregone conclusion
