It's also just really easy to vote here. Postal, online for overseas citizens, weeks of pre-polling, all voting is done on the weekend and polls are open both early and late

Does Australia do democracy well? When the voter cannot choose their preferred candidate thanks to being forced out after dirt digging by their opponent, you don’t give the voter the right to have a democratic vote - the decision was made by someone else.

Both of you have missed the issue - forcing a candidate to resign means the voter cannot express their democratic right to vote - that decision was taken away from them. Why wouldn’t you let the voter decide rather the party?

The candidate can still stand in the election, but not for that party if they choose. I cannot see any democratic issue here
