It's also just really easy to vote here. Postal, online for overseas citizens, weeks of pre-polling, all voting is done on the weekend and polls are open both early and late

Unless you were to pass a law, like in Canada, where employers are required to ensure that employees have at least two consecutive hours off work during polling hours, which generally run from 8 AM to 7 PM.

In the UK elections are always held on Thursdays, but that’s not commonly criticised. Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm so plenty opportunity to vote when not at work.

As an epidemiologist I'd argue that's a significant disincentive that will absolutely impact the cohort of voters. Likely a bias against disadvantaged groups, younger people, and shift workers
