Is there any research on how the sweet taste affect our eating habits (suger or artificial sweeteners)? Do people drink less water overall when consuming zero calories drinks?
-
People REPLACE water with diet sodas. US consumption peaked at 55 gallons/yr per capita in 1999, now down to <40.https://www.businessinsider.com/americans-are-drinking-less-soda-2016-3 …

What is the effect of artificial sweeteners being added to everything, even food which never before had sugar in it? If the dose makes the poison, at what point is the treshold?
-
If we're talking acute toxicity here, they're all safe AFAIK until you get to 1000's of liters of soft drink

IIRC, its negative health is related to oral sweet taste and gut taste/ glucose management mismatch. Sweet taste starts the body preparation for sugar. Then it doesn't happen. Problem. And, IIRC, gut micribiota have similar reactions. Reckless statement.

I think that’s a myth, innit?

On the humor angle tho. I heard someone say "Saliva causes cancer. But only if swallowed in very small amounts almost continuously."
