Surely we'd want to err on the side of caution and assume that they manufacture the products in similar places? It doesn't make sense to me that we'd automatically assume that the US production chain prevents these issues when we know that it is flawed already

Why would I assume that products sold in India are manufactured in the same location as the ones sold in the US? I DID NOT ASSUME THE US PRODUCTION CHAIN PREVENTS ISSUES. I explicitly indicated it did not. Please do not invent arguments for me that I did not make.

I don't understand your argument then, apologies. My understanding was that you were arguing that, because this study was conducted in India, the problems weren't necessarily translatable to the US. I'm not sure I agree with that argument

Yes. That's flawed logic. (It's known as a "hasty generalization" but also qualifies as an appeal to probability.) That's my only argument.

I'd argue that there's not sufficient evidence to conclude that the products in the US are safe, given the known issues with product testing, and that the onus should be on HerbaLife to demonstrate safety based on these results from overseas

I made NO argument about whether any of these products are safe, anywhere in the world. I made NO argument about whether proof of safety should be required. Stop already. (The DSHEA doesn't require proof that they are to sell them in the US--I'd start by changing DSHEA...)

You said that it is illogical to assume that the products sold in the US are hazardous based on evidence that products sold elsewhere are hazardous. I do not agree with that, as I've outlined above

You may disagree, but it is still not a logical conclusion. Your opinion about these products--and my opinion, which I haven't actually stated--is one thing, the rules of logic are another. Now can everyone please stop mansplaning and/or putting words in my mouth?

It is entirely logical. Without evidence to the contrary, there is no reason to believe that the supply/production chain is not similar for different countries, especially considering the lack of efficacy in product testing globally

You are now employing a new, as in distinct, logical fallacy to express your opinion, As a result, I give up. Go ahead, keep mansplaining and giving opinions. There’s no point in trying to discuss logic with someone who isn’t interested or doesn’t understand.

I am not, but to be honest veering called an illogical mansplainer for disagreeing with an opinion is tiresome and pointless anyway. Cheerio

Nope, sure don't. Wouldn't use any of their products, either. Never expressed my actual opinion, merely pointed out that the rules of logic and "show your work"/explain are not the same at all.
