The problem with breakfast-skipping is that it's a very socially-influenced phenomenon People who skip breakfast do so for a wide variety of reasons Hard to unpick causal associations in that morass of confounding #epitwitter

This is even harder when we consider that "breakfast" is a catch-all term that is kind of meaninglesspic.twitter.com/bFCbGMJz4u

So when a study comes out that says that never eating breakfast is associated with an 87% increased risk of cardiovascular death, it's quite hard to know what that means

Even worse, the study did not find an increased risk for either heart disease or all-cause mortality, which makes these results even harder to interpretpic.twitter.com/7fJFWvQu5J

There's also research indicating that when you actually ask people to eat breakfast who otherwise wouldn't, they put on weight and get less healthy So maybe it's not the breakfast after all?

Another great take down of a misreported study. Epidemiology is an important science but in the wrong hands (ie much of the media) it really has the predictability of dry picnic acid in the hands of a child with a hammer 🙄🤣pic.twitter.com/XcZ2s3xWYO

Just realised autocorrect messed things up there a little. Picric acid obviously not that common in dictionaries.pic.twitter.com/5ElCxakwOl

would be interesting to know if these were all primary outcomes that they declared before starting
