Of course - but it does take surprisingly longer when you stop using seed oils, have decent omega 3 and SFA intake, and are no longer insulin resistant.

How much longer? Has that been quantified in human trials? Has this effect been demonstrated in humans at all? Is it specific to those foods and why?

As far as I can tell, there are a few epi studies with possible suggestive results, and a bunch of rodent studies that say different things. Also, they almost all focus on supplementation of omega 3, so I'm not sure what this has to do with the original point

In the animal studies, omega 3 has the same effect as saturated fat or no omega 6. Clinically, insulin resistance impedes skin repair. So we are probably talking about the mixed effect of a complex protocol like Dr Unwin's on skin and immunity, and not a single metabolic factor.

I honestly can't see how that relates to the original point about sunburn taking "surprisingly longer", particularly as most of this research focuses on skin cancer rather than sunburn

It's generally believed that a history of sunburn predicts skin cancer incidence. The animal studies seem to itemize such a progression.

Mmm but you can't necessarily infer from a plausible theoretical reduction in NMSC back to it taking longer to get sunburned that's a pretty big leap imo
