The thing is, we often mean different things by "evidence" Sometimes, if a theory is newly formed and not well studied, a single trial can make a big difference Mostly, this isn't the case

For example, take homeopathy We have ~centuries~ of evidence that homeopathy is useless medically It would take something ENORMOUS, literally hundreds of studies, to change that

Most of the time, if something has been studied before, a single study will only have an impact if it is very big and rigorous Otherwise, it might not mean all that much
