@drkerrynphelps Why should I/we subsidise “therapies” for which there is no evidence of efficacy? #LetTheUserPay

The point is, there is evidence for several of these modalities. This policy also will stifle further research and limits patient choice and integrative healthcare

Homeopathy is literally the stupidest of all pseudosciences. There is zero evidence that it works for anything. Not only does it not work, it's physically impossible for it to work. And you call it a medical modality?

No, homeopathy is not medical. I do not use it or recommend it and I agree it has no evidence. However there are other therapies with evidence including yoga and Tai Chi which do have evidence for efficacy and safety and should not be on the list

You mentioned naturopathy in your original tweet, but homeopathy is pretty central to naturopathy. If homeopathy is not medical, why is naturopathy?

And by "pretty central" you mean that "without homeopathy, there is no naturopathy".

One of the key differences is that naturopathy is one of WHO recognised systems of medicine (i.e. not just defined by tool of trade like homeopathy). In Australia, homeopathy is not part of naturopathic training. Naturopathy is also quite research active https://www.scribd.com/document/404190133/Naturopathy-in-Australia-Overview …

Interesting, because of the naturopaths I know who were trained in Aus every one had homeopathy included in their training. I'd be interested to know what proportion of Australian naturopaths promote/use homeopathy in their practice
