It's a bit funny to see this almost every week. Rodent models are great for some things, but to unpick the complex association between obesity, cancer, and sugar...not so much

Add to this the fact that current best evidence - based on a systematic review from 2018 - suggests that sugar is not independently linked to cancer It just makes the story seem even sillierpic.twitter.com/xYgM5MJQiK

And on top of that, my favorite bit, THE RODENT STUDY DIDN'T EVEN SHOW THAT CORN SYRUP *CAUSES* CANCER

It's all a bit ridiculous, makes you wonder if anyone actually read the study before reporting on it

Good piece, but there is one thing that bugs me. Mice get a undeserved bad rep. When we look at why findings don't translate from mice it's rarely ever due to species differences. It's almost always researchers screwing up. We should not categorically dismiss mouse studies.

gotta love the fat/carb seesaw. model has been used w fat & fiber modified diets for decades to look at diet-x-genotype-x-polyp interactions but something tells me no one is gonna be shouting for a 5% fat 20% fiber diet...
