I think there's two rarely discussed problems with supplements, even assuming there is a nominal effect and the supplement bottle contains exactly what the label says it contains. 1) They're never the most cost effective solution. 2) Self medication is rarely the best choice

3) They're also not well regulated, and you can't be sure that what they claim is in them is really in them. 4 )They can be costly. 5) Safety has not always been tested. (Perhaps these are often discussed, so don't fall under your list of "rarely discussed problems.")
