With supplements, it depends on what we mean by "of note" Most supplements have minor benefits demonstrated in a handful of studies (n=40, p=0.049, d=0.01) for a conditionhttps://twitter.com/theboonarmies/status/1110144691746410496 …

Are there any, outside of well documented pregnancy ones, that do anything of note?

There are a few that have more impressive benefits, but even then the clinical utility is often minor

So, for example, there's good evidence that iron supplements can reduce fatigue in menstruating women, but it's a small effect and comes with a risk of nausea

St. John's Wort can treat mild depression almost as well as SSRIs, but causes issues with liver enzymes and interacts badly with pretty much any other drugs/supplements

And on down the list we go. African geranium supplements are probably beneficial in the treatment of acute bronchitis, but they only reduce the duration by a few hours and don't impact severity much

Cinnamon supplements probably drop blood sugar by a tiny bit, but even then the evidence is problematic and the effect is small, even in people with diabetes

AND THESE ARE THE BETTER ONES These are the supplements that I can say I've looked into pretty intensively and almost certainly have a benefit

This is why I say that supplements don't work Sometimes, they work in a very limited way for a very specific thing MOST OF THE TIME THAT'S NOT EVEN TRUE
