If an n=80 study randomizes into two groups, stratified by age AND gender, is it still randomized?
Right but what happens if you have almost as many groups as participants?

Then it just becomes a RCT. This sometimes happens in phase 2 cancer trials where there is stratification at a site level; they sometimes use complex algorithms (minimisation) to try to ensure balance while still randomly allocating treatments.

Ah ok then. I see what you mean it isn't really an issue it just makes the stratification a bit pointless I guess
