The basic idea comes down to two things: 1. The watch doesn't have a great success rate at actually identifying atrial fibrillation 2. We don't know if it would be useful EVEN IF IT DID

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge that I’ve never advocated for (or even described) this particular feature (even though the ECG is cool). I do believe that the watch itself has potential as a behaviour change tool (rings! They are addicting)
