Often, this claim is used to sell a product - I once met someone who tried to sell me vitamins because we all need them now we're unhealthy I mean, he was part of an MLM scheme, but stillpic.twitter.com/wwJYY45qcN
There is definitely an increase in CHRONIC disease, like diabetes, and it's no joke The amount of suffering due to diabetes is climbing steadily each year THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT PEOPLE ARE LESS HEALTHY NOW
The thing is, many of these diseases are exacerbated by age People rarely get diabetes under the age of 40* The longer we live, the more chronic diseases we'll have!pic.twitter.com/BXVjHow29D
*(It's becoming FAR more common, but that means going from a rate of ~0.01% to about 10x that, which is still only ~0.1%)
So more people having more chronic diseases is exactly what we'd expect if we were all living longer
Correction: I was mostly talking about type 2 diabetes in terms of the under 40s, type 1 hovers between 2-4% population prevalence
