Jesus. We should NOT be funding studies that restrict adolescent food intake or contribute to diet culture and disordered eating in kids! This needs to be stopped.https://www.change.org/p/dr-michael-bryden-say-no-to-starving-our-teens-stop-the-fast-track-trial-1d356ed5-e8d5-48dc-b168-7710fcf062a4?recruiter=14708174&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_petition&recruited_by_id=6c863310-ca4f-012f-6db3-4040ea65fa16&utm_content=fht-14288926-en-au%3Av6&fbclid=IwAR1MX7aa1S-GPS--ax9NyMa1WchL5KBPX5mKy2k_g9OcqYi6n-cGB_BPNRQ …

Meal replacements don't work long term for weight loss. Inducting kids into weight loss cycles is irresponsible, as is the encouragement of fasting diets. Trust me, I've had an eating disorder for 25 years and it started when I was 12.

There's a lot of excitement in the medical community about meal replacement diets at the moment because of the DiRECT trial, which I would guess is the impetus for this trial as well

This is kind of pointless you think, if the child is over a healthy weight in the issue is primarily the life style of the parents and not the child. Up until they leave home they have very little say in what they eat day to day.
