At a cost of ~$1,500 difference per patient, the cost is about $3,000 per case of diabetes remission (1500/0.48) That's pretty spectacular

If we were to compare to another trial of diabetes remission, run by
@virtahealth, it's even more impressive Virta costings are not public, but based on the public figures on their website it is roughly $4,000 per year for ~65% remission, or 4000/0.65 = ~$6,000 per remissionShow this thread -
Also worth noting that the comparison is incomplete because the DiRECT costs include things that Virta does not provide to its patients (medications etc) so the cost per remission might be even more impressive!

You need to compare Dr David Unwins
@lowcarbGP cost savings against DiRECT as both are NHS based ?Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I would like to see a large scale trail of the benfits of
@lowcarbGP methods. But it would be hard to setup, as it depends on GPs giving people "hope", and most trials are designed to remove the effect of "hope".Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
