Everything else aside, social determinants have a massive impact on our lives It's no coincidence that virtually all wellness advocates are (relatively) wealthy!pic.twitter.com/bBdgNUQzi3

The blog goes into more detail, but basically if you are already pretty healthy, don't worry too much about being "well", and if you're unhealthy see a doctor before consulting a lifestyle guru

I should note: most wellness advocates are almost certainly not bad people, they've just bought into the idea more than anyone else. Some are probably deliberate scammers, but most are just true believers who may have been misled

I'd say the inexpensive fringe "treatments"--drinking hydrogen peroxide, eating clay, "the baking soda cure for cancer"--are equally poisonous and a total con.
-
True, but it's astonishing how pricey most "wellness" treatments are. One retreat that I saw costs >$10,000 for a 7-day stay, and it was not even a particularly expensive option

Also, if I were British, I'd be asking if "fringe treatments" just include the usual hair cut and touch-ups, or if there are special hair masques and treatments just for the fringe
