This is something I've been going back and forth over for a long time - there are literally millions of diet tips out there, and most of them are crap What to do in the face of all this?
Sorry, that was just me being flippant. I think calorie counting, from personal experience and based on evidence, is really hard and having a specific diet to stick to is often easier for people

Ah ok that makes sense - I agree that it’s difficult, but also feel that there are systemic reasons for that (and for the resultant overconsumption) which should be the focus, rather than specific foods/diets. Granted, basic math/science education may be one of those.

Oh I think systemic issues are at the heart of a lot of things. Obesity is more about environment than anything else, otherwise we wouldn't be getting fatter all of a sudden!
