Although ultimately virtually all measurements of health are 'indirect', I think this particular study did a reasonably good job referencing back to realistic components of 'health' that most would find valuable

"Virtually all measurements of health are indirect" -> in short term epidemiology studies, yes. In mouse studies this is not the case. Which is why they are synergistic rather than one being better than the other
