People often have generalized symptoms that are not immediately attributable to a disease (i.e. chronic exhaustion). In those situations, there's a tendency to test for everything imaginable, because people want some sort of answer even if there isn't always one

While I can afford to tell a patient “everything is OK with your thyroid/adrenal/gonads etc, there are no more tests necessary”, naturopaths and similar quacks are poised to unify non specific symptoms into a fabricated bogus diagnosis. That’s the market niche they’ve discovered.
