I thought something similar, but I've been unable to find anything solid. Cochrane says may or may not but evidence is not of good quality, so I included in the list!

At least ginger and honey taste good as tea. I have simmered ginger slices, a stick of cinnamon, some whole cloves, and lemon juice with some water. Drinking that with honey is delicious and soothing.

Very true. I always drink honey/ginger/lemon tea when I have a cold even though it may do nothing. Still tastes great!
