I used to be a staunch low carb diet advocate until I got many patients who lost weight and put their type 2 diabetes into remission using various diets out there (low fat, calorie counting, moderation). I still favor low carb but was eye opening once I worked with patients!

Have you figured out a pace of insulin de-prescribing for different patterns of eating and do you find likelihood of insulin d/c more likely with one pattern of eating over another?

It depends on the individual and what other meds they are on but in general I’m aggressive with insulin lowering with meal replacement very low calorie and also keto. I’m always connected with patients though so I can do everything daily if needed through

We're putting together a study using commercial weightloss shakes after they've been effective in the clinic setting. There are a few brands out there, I think they're all good?
