Their definition is fine and good for pushing government to improve benefit system. But the spin tries to change an episode into a whole year crisis. Having a crisis does not make you "destitute " for a year.
No one is avoiding anything, you are simply being disingenuous. If you disagree with the definition of destitution, that is your prerogative, although I suspect you will find yourself in the tiny minority insofar as evidence and expert opinion goes

I don't disagree with it. How can I? It is their own creation. You are being disingenuous by persistently ignoring its episodic nature. There are not 1.5 million "destitute" on any day of the year. 1.5 million are affected in a year. JRF not telling us distribution of duration.
