I hate it when people say "BMI is inaccurate, it's useless!" No BMI is IMPERFECT, not inaccurate It does not provide a perfect estimate of risk for every person BUT it is a good estimation for most people

But for the vast majority of people, BMI gives you a decent estimate of risks such as OSA and cardiovascular events

BMI is also a very quick and easy measurement that costs nothing to take, compared with many of the other measurements which are labor and cost intensive

It isn’t just elite athletes, e.g. it’s any fit athlete even at club level that plays a contact sport. A fit second grade back rower will often be 190cm and 110kg. It’s nearly every half decent surf life saver or regular swimmer.
