#medtwitter, please help resolve a heated debate: Hypertension - disease or risk factor?
To be clear I'm not taking about 'malignant/crisis etc'. I'm talking about the bulk of hypertensive cases - systolics between 140-160. No retinopathy/nephropathy/IHD etc etc.
I feel like this complexity is why you could probably consider it as both. Largely contextual?

Gid, I came here to arm myself with more arguments to win a debate. Peace is not an option.

Fair. Well then, I'd go with risk factor, disease is a problematic label that should only be used with care and if there's a fence to sit on we should err on the side of caution I hope I helped your side of the argument
