Any feelings about when people cite their own work and refer to themselves in the third person?

In general, I prefer the first person wherever possible (if the journal allows). I find the use of the third person is often just an appeal to objectivity that doesn't really exist

So if it is an author team, but different from the author team for the new ms referencing the prior study, can you still say “we”?

I think so. Or maybe "Some of us" or something similar because that's a bit clunky
