Hey smart people, a question. Is it physiologically possible for someone's HbA1c to go from 11% down to 4.6% in 6 weeks? Trying to figure out if a value is above board

6 weeks? Really difficult to interpret, as average red cell lifespan is 3m. I'd be thinking this was due to a bleed or a red cell problem, if it's a real lab result.

Turns out it's real! Apparently it's a well-known case around here that is used as a teaching tool because it's so unusual

Apparently. I'm still slightly skeptical, I want to see the lab results in totality, but my colleague assures me it's a real result. Insulin naive patient started for the first time

It's from a study of T2DM, but I'd have to check to be sure, we've got a couple of people in the dataset who were diagnosed T2 and then reclassified as T1

Sorry, it's actually 8 weeks. I think it was a routine check-up because the patient was just started on insulin to see how they were going
