I talk about this in the blog! It's certainly true that other factors can have a greater impact - smoking is a great example - but it is also clear that excess fat is associated independently with worse health outcomes

Given weight loss is not achievable for the majority of people and has risk of harm (weight gain, increased body dissatisfaction, disordered eating and missed early diagnosis) but sustained health behaviours mitigates risk why recommend weight loss? Weight stigma? Body shame?

I don't think that you can attribute those harms to weight loss per se, I'd say that's more in terms of dietary interventions. Most of my argument is about the importance of population approaches rather than individual intervention for this (among other) reason(s)
