'Should' implies 'can'. Most overweight people want to lose weight but they are unable to maintain clinically significant weight loss even with medical help. What's the point of telling them they should do it when you can't tell them how? How is that not contributing to shaming?

BTW the actual article is spot on. I just think the assumption that all overweight people could lose weight if they really tried is both factually and ethically problematic.
