The main point being that low-carb appears slightly better at controlling diabetes in the short term but the long term benefit to HbA1c is questionable

They are able to get this result is by continuing to pretend that <40% carbohydrates by calorie is what is meant by a low carbohydrate diet.

But here’s the kicker: if carbs are bad, then surely a lower carb diet should *still* outperform a higher carb diet for diabetics? Even if it doesn’t meet your definition of strictly low carb?

Many of the studies I've seen, even those that test LCHF, exclude people with certain ailments such as high blood pressure. So they likely don't test some of the very people who may benefit the most from an intervention.
